Manx Care is holding a volunteer recruitment drop-in in the foyer of Noble’s Hospital on Wednesday 4 November, between 10:00 and 12:00, the Isle of Man Government has announced.
Those who attend can find out which roles are open, talk to people who already volunteer and get answers to questions about applying. Manx Care said it wants volunteers to help patients, visitors and staff across services including the Emergency Department, Radiology, Outpatients, Cataract Clinics and reception areas.
Roles listed include the information desk, conversation and activity companion, maternity unit assistant, dining companion, Hear2Help (Audiology), Macmillan Cancer Information and Support, and the tea trolley at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital.
Volunteers must be aged 18 or over. An enhanced DBS check is required before starting, and Manx Care covers the cost.
Tanya Corlett, Manx Care’s Volunteer and Student Placement Officer, said coming to hospital “can be a daunting experience for a lot of people”. She said Manx Care would welcome anyone able to give a few hours each week or more regular support.
Applications can be made online through the Volunteer with Manx Care webpage. Enquiries can be made on 650720 or by email to [email protected].
