Four Manx players at Prenton Park. It was a good night on Merseyside for the island’s football exports. Liam Blake, Dylan Bullock, Preston Cleator and James Lowther all played for Tranmere Rovers as they beat Newcastle Blue Star 6-0 in the first round of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday 27 October, according to Manx Radio. Bullock, Cleator and Lowther started and played the full match, while Blake came off the bench and scored the sixth. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening.

Ravens turn it round. FC Isle of Man have reached the third round of the Macron Cup, Isle of Man Today reports. They were two goals down at the break and came back to win. Whatever was said in the dressing room, it seems to have worked.

Fury name on the Douglas bill. A squad of 17 of the island’s youngest boxers will face opponents from Merseyside and Cheshire next month, Isle of Man Today says, and Manx Radio reports the bouts will take place in Douglas. Both outlets say the sons of Tyson Fury are in the Manx line-up. Expect the surname to feature in plenty of conversations before then.

Faroes calling. Isle of Man Tennis is the first sport to confirm its squad for the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands, Energy FM reports. Eight players will travel, four men and four women. Team manager Hannah Snidal, who also plays in the women’s team, is leading the group. Other sports now have a target to aim at.

Personal bests on both sides of the Atlantic. Several island runners recorded personal bests at the Dublin and Chicago marathons, according to Isle of Man Today. Running 26.2 miles is an achievement in itself. Doing it faster than ever before is better still.

Fine shooting in the south. Port St Mary posted a score of 490 in the rifle league’s southern derby, Isle of Man Today reports. Ben Kelly, Paul Clague and Donna Gardner each scored 99 for the home side.

And finally, island golfer Ana Dawson has been looking back on her 2026 Ladies European Tour season. “I’ve improved every year,” she told Manx Radio Sport, adding that she has learnt a lot. That is a decent outlook for the winter, whatever your game.
