Request halts are included as scheduled stops for this game. Stop within 42 metres of the marker, apply the brake, open the carriage doors and allow 12 seconds for boarding.

01 / THE DRIVER

A gentle hand on the regulator.

Release the brake with A, leave the reverser around 75% to start, then open the regulator with W. Ease it with S; use D to brake. Once moving, shorten cut-off with T to use steam more sparingly. Watch for falling pressure, wheel slip, gradients and the 25 mph line limit.

Close the regulator early for stations. Stop by the platform, press O to open the carriage doors, then wait for boarding. Drag the mouse to look through the cab spectacles or lean towards a side window. Click a valve, or drag a cab lever up and down. The panel below always works with a mouse or touch.

02 / THE FIREMAN

Coal, water and a living fire.

Choose Manual to manage the boiler yourself. Open the firedoor with F, shovel with C, then close it. Build an even fire rather than burying the grate. The damper feeds air; the blower helps draw the fire while stationary. Open the injector with I when boiler water falls; it uses tank water and some steam.

The assisting fireman tends coal, water and blower while you drive. Scenic ride also handles driving and station stops, so you can enjoy the views. You can take over with any driving control. You can still fire by hand. A low water level ends the trip. Pressure, draught, fuel and pulling power are linked, with simplified values for a playable browser game.

03 / THE WINDOW GAZER

The island, where it belongs.

Follow the mapped line past the Nunnery, Port Soderick and Crogga woods; climb through Santon, run south past Ballasalla and Ronaldsway, follow the Silverburn towards Castletown, then turn through the farmland to Colby, Port St Mary and Port Erin. King William’s College, Castle Rushen and Milner’s Tower sit at their geographic positions. Change to the carriage window or lineside camera to watch the journey unfold.

The track follows every point in the mapped main line. Landscape imagery is 10-metre satellite data, with real elevation, mapped building footprints and woodland. Stations, bridges, locomotive, interiors and close scenery are reconstructed; fine gradients and clearances are approximate. These are not photographic street views or a railway training system.
