A Secret Santa scheme in Peel to help struggling families on the island this Christmas has been met with an overwhelming response, 3FM has reported.

The Shared Table is pairing children with donors whose identities are kept private. Each donor can spend up to £20 on a present for the child they are matched with.

According to 3FM, the team behind the scheme said people’s generosity had brought them to tears. They hope the gifts will take some of the strain off families over the festive period.

Parents and carers who would like their children to be included can contact The Shared Table by private message through its Facebook page, 3FM said. They are asked to give the child’s age and an idea of something the child would like.
