Book ahead at busy times
Late nights, TT and Christmas get very busy. Most firms take bookings by phone, and many offer a fixed price for pre-booked airport and Sea Terminal journeys.
Check it’s licensed
Every licensed taxi and private hire car shows an operator disc: private hire on the left of the windscreen, rank taxis on a plate at the back with the disc beside it.
No Uber here
Uber and Lyft don’t operate on the island. The local One Island web app has started offering taxi booking with participating licensed drivers.
Something left behind?
Contact the taxi firm directly. Licensing questions and complaints about drivers go to the Road Transport Licensing Committee.
