The Department of Infrastructure plans to put work to extend the Douglas horse tramway to the Sea Terminal out to tender in early 2027, Manx Radio has reported.
The department told the station that the tender process is still being prepared.
Under the plans, the tramway would be extended from the bottom of Broadway to the Sea Terminal. The department’s provisional estimate is that construction would take around 35 weeks.
According to Manx Radio, the aim is for horse trams to be carrying passengers along the whole promenade once more by summer 2028.
Infrastructure Minister Jason Moorhouse said he hoped further information would be available soon.
Manx Radio’s report did not give a start date for the works or further details of the tender.
