Tynwald will appoint members to several of its committees when it meets for its November sitting in Douglas, 3FM has reported.

A number of committee places have been left vacant following September’s general election. The court will need to fill them when it sits from 10:00 on Tuesday 17 November in the Legislative Buildings.

According to 3FM, the posts include a chair and two new members for each of the following:

  • the Public Accounts Committee
  • the policy review committee covering the economy
  • the policy review committee covering social affairs
  • the policy review committee covering environment and infrastructure

The Public Accounts Committee scrutinises how public money is spent. The policy review committees examine government work in their respective areas.

Tynwald, the island’s parliament, brings together the House of Keys and the Legislative Council for its monthly sittings.
