The Isle of Man Post Office is not taking goods bound for European Union countries for the time being, it confirmed on 28 October, and has given no date for the service to return.
The Post Office said the third-party systems it relies on to handle international shipments are being updated because of changes to EU customs requirements. According to Manx Radio, a spokesperson said work to prepare was under way but “our systems are not yet ready for the changes”.
The suspension covers goods sent through:
- Post Office counters
- Online Postage
- Click & Dispatch
- Franking
Documents can still be sent to the EU as normal, the Post Office said. Goods posted to countries outside the EU, including the USA, are also unaffected, according to Energy FM.
The Post Office said it is working with its suppliers on a fix and will update customers once one is in place.
The spokesperson, quoted by Manx Radio, added: “We understand this may cause inconvenience and apologise for the disruption.”
