A tribunal has ruled that a man turned away at the Manx border has no right to remain in the UK either, according to 3FM.
The man, identified in the judgment only as JJ, arrived in the UK illegally in 2014, 3FM reported. His asylum application was rejected in 2023, and he appealed against that decision.
He was stopped by immigration officers in July and refused entry to the island, according to the radio station. His appeal was then treated as abandoned because he had left the UK.
In the judgment, First-tier Tribunal Judge Boyes found that the man had clearly left the UK, 3FM said.
The judge also found that Common Travel Area rules did not apply to him because he was not an EU citizen, according to the report. The Common Travel Area is the arrangement covering movement between the UK, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and Ireland.
On that basis, the judge concluded that both the Isle of Man and the UK had been right to refuse him entry, 3FM reported.
3FM did not say where the man is now, and gave no further detail about his circumstances or when the judgment was issued.
