Filbey’s Little Food Shack has closed after five years, with its owners thanking customers in a farewell message reported by Isle of Man Today.
The team said they were leaving with “full hearts, wonderful memories and an enormous amount of gratitude” after trading at events and festivals across the island. They looked back on “incredible experiences” as well as challenges and hard work.
They singled out the people who came to their last pop-up events, saying customers had given them “the most wonderful send-off”. They also thanked everyone who had worked with them, those who had recommended the business, and anyone who had queued for food or stopped for a chat.
“Five years. Countless memories. One incredible adventure,” the team said.
The business started life as a restaurant beside The Creek Inn on East Quay in Peel, before the owners switched to running a food truck.
When they announced the closure in September, they said several factors were behind the decision rather than one, among them rising prices and an increasing workload. Going mobile had been meant to free up more time for family life, they said at the time, but having to take on more events had made that steadily harder to achieve.
The owners have previously said they hope to stay in hospitality, though they have not yet settled on what comes next.
