Charities and voluntary organisations can now apply for licences to hold flag days and street collections in Douglas during 2027. The deadline for applications is 19 November.

The scheme is run by Douglas City Centre Management (DCCM) on behalf of Douglas Council, which is urging local groups to come forward before the closing date, according to Energy FM.

The yearly scheme is intended to help charities and community organisations bring in additional funds. The city centre is limited to a maximum of 28 collections a year.

Groups that want to take part will need their own public liability insurance. An application form is available by email from [email protected].

Douglas City Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire said island charities and community groups “make a tremendous contribution to our community”, and that DCCM greatly valued the generosity of the Manx public in supporting them.

He acknowledged that raising money remained difficult for many organisations, “particularly with continued pressure on household finances”. He said collections gave charities a worthwhile chance to meet people face to face while raising money for good causes.
