Manx Padel’s new courts at Noble’s Park in Douglas are due to open officially this weekend, with free play for anyone keen to try the sport, Isle of Man Today has reported.
Doors open at 10:00, and the ribbon will be cut at 10:30. A Manx Padel spokesperson told the paper the opening would take the form of a free round-robin across six panoramic glass courts, and that people of all ages and abilities could join in, including complete beginners.
Coaches will circulate between the courts giving tips, the spokesperson said, and the company has promised “some very special guests” on the day.
The planning committee gave the scheme its unanimous backing in April 2025. Manx Padel’s application involved replacing four of the park’s tennis courts. The site will have floodlights, low-level lighting along the paths and a kiosk where equipment can be hired.
Rob Callister, who chairs the committee, called the project a “great initiative” and “something new and fresh”, according to Isle of Man Today.
Padel draws on both tennis and squash, and has been growing quickly in popularity. The courts will be open seven days a week, from 06:00 to 22:00.
