Ramsey’s annual fireworks display will take place on Saturday 21 November rather than its traditional date of 31 October, Ramsey Town Commissioners have confirmed.
The local authority said its contractor had warned of possible difficulties getting the fireworks to the island. According to Energy FM, the commissioners settled on a new date early so that there would be no uncertainty and planning could go ahead.
The display will begin at 19:30 in Mooragh Park, set to music by Take That. Energy FM reported that entertainment will start at 18:00 at the Lakeside Centre.
The new date means the display falls the evening after the town’s Christmas Light Switch On, which has been confirmed for Friday 20 November.
Margaret Webb, the commissioners’ Lead Member for Parks, told Manx Radio: “The Ramsey display is always very popular and this year the fireworks will be accompanied by music associated with Take That.”
She said people coming to either event could make use of the town’s independent shops and hospitality venues. She added that parking in Ramsey is free and the town can be reached by Bus Vannin.
