The Isle of Man Code Club is putting a seasonal spin on its programme with its first Hop tu Naa Hack Day, to be held on Saturday 31 October, Manx Radio has reported.

The event is aimed at students, graduates and anyone with an interest in technology, with a minimum age of 13. Participants will be invited to turn their ideas into working projects, whether a website, an app or something more experimental, according to the broadcaster.

The day falls on Hop tu Naa itself, the island’s traditional celebration marking the end of October.

Adam Drummond, who has been involved with Code Club since it was founded, told Manx Radio that although the word “hack” can carry negative connotations, the event will be very different from that image.

The event is free to attend, and Manx Radio said registration is open. Details of the venue and timings were not included in the broadcaster’s report.
