Manx event rider Yasmin Ingham leads Pau CCI5* in France after the first day of dressage on Thursday, Energy FM reported.
Ingham partnered Gypsie du Loir, the 10-year-old horse owned by Janette Chinn and The Sue Davies Fund, to a score of 28.9 penalties. Energy FM said no rider bettered that mark on the opening day, leaving her in first place overnight.
Five-star is the highest level of international eventing. Competitors are judged over three phases (dressage, cross-country and showjumping), and penalties accumulate, so the rider with the lowest total at the finish wins.
The order could still change. The rest of the field ride their dressage tests on Friday, and the cross-country and showjumping follow after that, according to Energy FM.
