Football first. Manx Radio Sport reports that the Isle of Man FA is to meet FC Isle of Man to discuss the club’s plans for a women’s team. The Ravens announced earlier this week that they intend to form the new squad.

The 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands are already shaping the sporting calendar. Manx Radio Sport says expressions of interest are now open for riders hoping to join the island’s cycling squad.

The Isle of Man Lawn Tennis Association has also named its team for the Games, according to Isle of Man Today, with Faragher set to make an 18th appearance.

In rugby, Manx Radio Sport reports that Manx players have been selected for Sale Sharks’ player development system, which is designed to spot upcoming talent in the sport.

In the pool, the same outlet reports that an island competitor has set a new European and British record. Sophie Casson was part of a trio who took on the masters national championships.

The 2026/27 Manx basketball season has opened with a close contest. Manx Radio Sport says defending champions Jets were taken all the way by Southern Phoenix.

On the track, the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club held the second of its Hansard Global handicap races at the NSC on Thursday 15 October, Isle of Man Today reports. Despite the cloud, a calm and fairly mild evening made for good racing on the outer track, the paper said.

Athletes set off at staggered times based on their recent best for the distance. Rosa Nelson-Rohrer won the 10km run on handicap, ahead of Moira Hall and Margaret McCabe. Phill Swales took the 5km walk from Maxine Lace and Yanisa Sananveah.

Mike Ryan became the event’s first wheelchair athlete. According to Isle of Man Today, he found the track’s constant camber tricky but still recorded his best 10km time so far. The club also agreed to time a group of juniors as guests, outside the senior competition.

Finally, Isle of Man Today carries an interview with a cyclist who says that, having watched Cav become champion, this year has been a dream come true. The rider described it as “a perfect year really”, adding that “all the work I put in last year has really paid off”.
