Rowetta, the singer known for her work with Happy Mondays and for her run on The X Factor, is to perform at a Halloween and Hop tu Naa house music night at the Conister Arms, the Wetherspoon pub, according to Isle of Man Today.

The over-18s event is being organised by Neal Clague, who is known as the ‘Godfather of Manx House’. Ten DJs will play across two floors, with a mix of classic house records and more recent tracks.

Among those booked are GID, Alan Stacey, Ninja Fingers, PQ, Mo Beats, Audiowok, GOMH and Dan and Cal Davies, together with other DJs from Volume.

Mr Clague told the paper the night came out of a conversation with fellow DJ Phil Quirk. The two wanted to put the island’s long-standing DJs on the same bill as newer names. He said they wanted “to showcase the cream of Manx House DJs from the past, present and include the future stars too.”

Rowetta came fourth when The X Factor first aired in 2004. Her only previous trip to the island was to watch James play, and she met Mr Clague the day after that gig, Isle of Man Today reported. Her set will include well-known tracks, mashups and reworked versions. “I love a crowd to sing with me and of course dance,” she said.

Those attending are invited to come in costume.
