A fresh yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping has been issued for the island, covering the next two high tides, Ronaldsway Met Office said on the evening of Tuesday 27 October.
The warning comes into force at 22:30 on Tuesday and remains in place until 13:45 on Wednesday 28 October. According to Manx Radio, the high tides it covers are at about midnight and 12:15 on Wednesday.
Forecasters expect fresh to strong south-westerly winds to cause minor overtopping, with the possibility of slight debris along exposed coastlines and promenades, Manx Radio and Isle of Man Today reported.
Manx Radio and Isle of Man Today both listed the areas most likely to be affected as:
- the northern part of Douglas Promenade
- Castletown Promenade
- Shore Road in Rushen
- Laxey Promenade
Both outlets said Ramsey Promenade and Fenella Beach in Peel may also see some overtopping, though less than the locations above. 3FM, by contrast, included Ramsey’s promenades and Fenella Beach among the worst-affected areas without ranking them separately.
The new warning follows a stormy spell in which large waves hit promenades and coastal roads. Isle of Man Today reported that several routes were closed and that Laxey Promenade was closed to traffic for much of Tuesday.
People are urged to be careful near exposed stretches of coast and to look out for debris on roads and promenades, Isle of Man Today reported.
