Port St Mary beat their southern neighbours Castletown 490–477 in the third round of the Isle of Man Rifle Association’s Winter League, setting the highest team score of the season so far, Energy FM reported.

Ben Kelly, Paul Clague and Donna Gardner each scored 99 for the hosts. Nigel Christian led Castletown with 98, although Energy FM said he was unhappy at losing points on both his opening and closing shots. Charles Carter scored 95, his best in the Winter League.

In Division 1’s other matches, Laxey won 480–452 against Sandsiders at the Sinclair Range. Harry Creevy led the visitors with 99, matching Sandsiders’ top scorer Jean Quaye, and Adrian Cowin added 98 for Laxey.

Douglas won 476–454 at Kirk Michael, where Matthew Roosen was the top individual scorer on 98. Kirk Michael welcomed back Noah Mayne, who scored 95. According to Energy FM, he has focused on 50-metre outdoor shooting in recent years and had not competed at short range since 2019.

The league now pauses for half-term. Energy FM said Port St Mary’s total was the one for other teams to beat, and that the main contenders from last season’s individual title race had all scored well this week.
