Isle of Man mountain bikers took a string of overall podium places at the final round of the British National Enduro Series in Fort William, Isle of Man Today reported.

Oliver Kennington, the newly crowned British national champion, went into the Scottish finale 15 points off the series lead. His bike was wrecked in Saturday’s final practice. His father withdrew from his own race and lent his son his bike for Sunday. Kennington finished fifth on the day, which secured second overall in his first national series.

Ramsey’s Max Hitchen started the round five points off the lead. He placed fourth on the day and took third overall.

Port Erin’s Coral Heginbotham, the island’s only female competitor, was second on the day. She also finished second overall in the under-21 women’s class.

In the veteran 40 category, Douglas’s Tom Dawson finished second on the day and Laxey’s Russell Moore sixth. That left them second and third overall.

Ramsey’s Joey Huyton made his national debut and finished second in the round.

In the e-bike masters, James Hinchcliffe crashed heavily and did not finish. He dropped to fourth overall.
