Douglas rider Alec Sorby has signed for Spanish development team Natural Greatness-Rali-Ale for 2027, his first year in the under-23 category, Energy FM reports.
Sorby, 18, raced for Team Utmost-Mezzo in 2026. He placed inside the top 20 at the Tour of the Mendips and the Junior Tour of Ireland, and also finished on the podium on one stage of the Mendips race. He was in the top 30 at the Cadence Junior Road Race and at Race Un Hivern A Mallorca Arta.
He is the most recent rider from Dot Tilbury’s youth cycling programme to head abroad, according to Energy FM.
Speaking after the team announced his signing, Sorby said turning professional had been his dream, citing the number of role models the sport has on the island. He described the move as “definitely a step in the right direction”.
The team is based in Alicante and has a mix of Spanish and international riders. It contests Spain’s domestic cup series and races further afield, including the Tour of Panama. Its wins this year included the Memorial Valenciaga and Challenge Alicante.
His new teammates include Dutch rider Pascal Cutler, who had two top-five finishes at the U23 World Track Championships, and Briton Will Brown, who represented Great Britain twice on the road in 2026.
