Manx Utilities has said it runs just one hydroelectric generator on the island, at Sulby, according to 3FM, which reported the utility’s Freedom of Information response on 17 October.

The request asked how much hydro power had been generated at the Peel and Pulrose power stations. 3FM reported that the requester believed both stations drew power from rivers close by, having been told so.

Manx Utilities disputed that. According to 3FM, it said hydroelectricity has never been generated at either Peel or Pulrose, and that Sulby is the only site where it is produced.

The Freedom of Information Act 2015 gives members of the public the right to request information held by public authorities on the island, including Manx Utilities.
