A Coastguard helicopter carried a patient from Noble’s Hospital to the UK on Saturday night, 17 October, in an urgent medical transfer, Isle of Man Today reported.
Douglas Coastguard Rescue Team and the Coastguard Duty Officer were alerted at 21:52 to support the transfer from the hospital’s helipad. Team members reached Noble’s at 22:10 and got the landing area ready.
The Marine Operations Centre at the Sea Terminal led the operation. It worked with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Fareham, the hospital and the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.
The helicopter, R336, had travelled from Caernarfon Airport and touched down at 22:45. The rescue team then helped staff from the Isle of Man Ambulance Service and the Isle of Man Air Ambulance Service get the patient safely aboard. The aircraft took off for the UK at 23:28.
In an online statement, Douglas Coastguard Rescue Team thanked all those who took part and sent its best wishes to the patient.
Nothing has been made public about the patient’s condition or why the transfer was needed.
