Ramsey Commissioners are holding two drop-in sessions at the town hall for residents interested in volunteering to help look after the town’s amenities, Energy FM reported.

The sessions take place on 31 October and 21 November, both from 10:00 to 12:00. Board members and the commissioners’ clerk will be on hand to answer questions, and a register will be available for people who wish to sign up.

Margaret Webb, the commissioners’ Lead Member for Parks, said volunteers would help with “maintaining and monitoring” areas such as local gardens and other community spaces.

She said the scheme was inspired by volunteer programmes that had worked well elsewhere and by suggestions from residents. Volunteers would free the commissioners’ paid staff to concentrate on places that need more intensive or specialist care, she said.

Ms Webb added that the board looked forward to hearing what people could bring in terms of “experience, skills, knowledge and enthusiasm”.
