Employers that provide University College Isle of Man (UCM) students with good-quality work placements and work experience can now apply for accreditation through a new scheme that costs nothing to join.
According to Energy FM, the college launched the WorkReady Partnership at its Bridging the Skills Gap employers event in the week before 20 October. The station reported that the scheme aims to strengthen links between businesses and students and to improve graduates’ prospects of finding work.
Organisations that satisfy UCM’s criteria will become accredited WorkReady Partners. Students who complete a placement will receive a WorkReady Completion badge, which they can add to their CVs and LinkedIn profiles.
UCM said the partnership would help businesses develop the workforce they will rely on in years to come. For students, the college said, the benefits include hands-on workplace experience and formal recognition of the abilities and dedication they have shown.
Energy FM reported that partner organisations will receive invitations to major college occasions, including careers fairs and awards ceremonies, and will be given the chance to deliver guest lectures.
Employers wishing to take part can obtain more details about the scheme.
