A Manx family who have spent five years living aboard the world’s largest floating book fair are coming home when the Logos Hope docks in Douglas next month.
Andy Sheath and his wife Rebecca have made the ship their home since 2021, raising their daughters Elsie and Sofie on board, BBC News reported. More than 300 people from 60 countries live on the vessel, which is scheduled to be in Douglas Harbour from 6 to 22 November.
Mr Sheath first went aboard as a university student in 2010 and said he was the only Manxman on board. He told the BBC he had always hoped the ship would call at the island, and described the family’s return to start a new life here as “a huge homecoming”.
He said the ship held “precious, treasured memories”, including Elsie, now five, taking her first steps in its corridors.
Fellow crew members have been asking him what they can do on the island, including whether they will be able to see the TT route, he said.
Mr Sheath said he hoped the Logos Hope would return, and would love to see another Manx person among its crew next time. “I have proudly waved the three legs of Man at every port,” he said.
