Dorothy Quayle has marked her 101st birthday with a party at Southlands in Port Erin, Manx Radio has reported.

The celebrations took place over the weekend. She used the occasion to speak about her love for the island in an interview with the broadcaster.

According to Manx Radio, she moved to the Isle of Man as a child.

The station said she went on to have a varied working life. That included 22 years at the RNLI lifeboat shop in Port Erin before she retired.

Southlands hosted the gathering to mark the milestone, which Manx Radio featured in its island news coverage on Monday, alongside her reflections on the place she has lived since childhood days.
