SolutionsHub has appointed Tommy Corlett, previously an inspector at the Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC), to lead its regulatory assurance and remediation work, Energy FM has reported.

Mr Corlett spent nine years with the GSC, which regulates gambling on the island. He began there as a gaming inspector. In November 2023 he took up a senior inspector post focused on checks against money laundering and terrorist financing, known as AML/CFT.

In that senior role, according to Energy FM, he assessed whether firms were complying with their AML/CFT duties. He also examined how effective their controls were and identified areas where improvement was needed.

His new job will involve supporting two groups of clients: businesses seeking entry to regulated markets, and online gambling operators handling their compliance on an ongoing basis. The work spans licence applications, putting right compliance shortcomings and maintaining standards over time.

Lee Hills, the chief executive of SolutionsHub, said Mr Corlett’s time on “the regulator’s side of the table” would be of considerable value to clients. Mr Hills said this would be particularly helpful in understanding regulators’ expectations and in fixing compliance issues.

For his part, Mr Corlett said he was keen to show firms “what regulators are actually looking for when they test something in practice”.
