Douglas is to stage its first Oie Houney fire festival on Saturday 24 October, 3FM has reported.

Part of North Quay and Ridgeway Street will be shut to traffic for the festivities. The station said the evening will feature a torchlit procession, a sword battle and a fire show by performers from the island.

According to 3FM, the road closures are expected to run from 17:30 to 19:00. Anyone driving through that part of the town centre on Saturday evening may want to allow for the closure or use another route.

The station said it will be the first Oie Houney fire festival to be held in the capital.

3FM’s report did not say where the procession will start or finish, or give a route.
