The Steam Packet Company says the Manxman is still on course to be back in service by the end of November, with its latest update reporting significant progress on repairs over the past week.
According to Manx Radio, the update says a specialist contractor has finished all the machining in the flagship’s bearing carriers, and attention has now turned to the bearings.
The vessel is also being repainted and its car decks recoated, Manx Radio reported.
The Manxman has not sailed since July. Faults with its propulsion shafts, liners and bearings came to light while it was undergoing routine maintenance, the broadcaster said.
The operator said earlier in October that the repairs were expected to cost about £5m, according to Manx Radio.
The latest update keeps the end-of-November target for the ship’s return and does not give a more specific date.
