Only three Steam Packet sailings are due to run this weekend, with eight crossings on Saturday and Sunday called off because of the weather, 3FM reported on Saturday morning.
According to the radio station, the Ben-my-Chree’s 08:00 departure for Heysham on Saturday and her 13:45 return, along with her 19:30 sailing on Sunday, are the only ones still scheduled.
The Manannan’s 15:00 crossing from Douglas to Liverpool on Monday 26 October, and her 19:15 return, are also in doubt. 3FM said a decision on those sailings would be made before 13:00 that day.
The cancellations come as Storm Boelo reaches the island, a day after Friday’s bad weather also disrupted travel. Isle of Man Today reported that the storm was bringing strong winds and heavy rain, and that flights as well as sailings had been cancelled or rescheduled on Saturday.
Amber warnings for severe gales, coastal overtopping and flooding in inner harbours are in force throughout the weekend, the paper said.
Passengers should check the latest position with the Steam Packet or their airline before travelling.
