Damon Warr, who shoots with Bowderyn Vannin Field Archery Club, will compete for the United Kingdom at the 2026 Korea Ulsan World Traditional Archery Championships in South Korea, Isle of Man Today has reported.
He has been selected for the UK Traditional Archers’ International Association (UK TAIA), the national body that promotes traditional and indigenous archery across the British Isles. Warr will use a traditional Korean bow in the championship’s flagship event, the 145-metre Korean Kungdo target.
Warr said he felt “both humbled and privileged to be able to represent the Isle of Man and the UK at Ulsan with UK-TAIA”, describing the trip as “a dream come true”.
The championships are run by the World Traditional Archery Federation (WTAF) together with the Korea National Archery Association. According to Isle of Man Today, hundreds of archers from dozens of countries are expected, and WTAF says they will come from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.
Archers compete in four heritage disciplines:
- 145m Korean Kungdo target
- 90m Hungarian Tarsca shield
- 70m Turkish Puta target
- 30m Kazakh Zhamby target
Competitors arrive on Thursday 29 October, with transfers from Incheon International Airport. Friday is set aside for equipment checks, practice and the opening ceremony, before qualification takes place over three days.
The knockout stages, from the round of 16 through to the semi-finals, are due to be shot on Tuesday 3 November. Medals will be decided and presented on Wednesday 4 November.
