A fallen tree caused disruption on the New Castletown Road near Fairy Bridge on Wednesday afternoon (21 October), according to 3FM.

In a report published at 15:42, the station said police had confirmed the tree came down a short time earlier. Emergency services were at the scene.

Motorists were being asked to avoid the area, 3FM said.

The New Castletown Road is one of the main routes in the south of the island, linking Douglas with Ballasalla, Castletown and Ronaldsway.

3FM’s report did not say whether anyone had been hurt or whether any vehicles were involved. It also gave no indication of how long the disruption was expected to last or whether the road had been closed.

Drivers planning to use the route were advised to stay away from the area while emergency services dealt with the tree.
