Road users across the island are being asked to make themselves easier to see over the coming months, with the clocks due to go back early on Sunday morning.
The Isle of Man Constabulary said the end of British Summer Time, at 02:00 on 25 October, will mean many people heading to work or school, or travelling home again, after dark.
According to police, fewer hours of daylight and unsettled autumn weather both cut visibility. Pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike therefore need to think about how easily they can be spotted, and how well they can spot others.
The force’s Road Safety Team is urging people to take straightforward precautions through the autumn and winter and to be as conspicuous as possible on the roads.
“As the evenings grow darker and the weather turns, make sure you are Bright at Night,” a police spokesperson said, as reported by Energy FM.
Police said a small amount of extra care from everyone would go a long way towards keeping the island’s roads safe this autumn.
