Plans for an indoor sports and wellness centre at The Nunnery on Old Castletown Road in Douglas head the latest weekly list of planning applications, published by Isle of Man Planning and Building Control on 16 October.
The application, reference 26/00707/B, seeks permission for an indoor sports centre with four courts. It would also include a cafe, a spa, a sauna, changing rooms and a swimming pool, together with landscaping and drainage work, according to the list.
Planning and Building Control describes the scheme as a major development of its kind. The weekly list does not say how big the building would be, which sports it would host or when work might begin.
Eight applications were lodged in total. Comments on them are due by 6 November 2026.
Other schemes on this week’s list include:
- Eden Business Park, Douglas (Braddan), 26/00834/B: a communications mast
- Colby: conversion of a barn
- Various locations: several home extensions
The list does not give the height of the proposed mast at Eden Business Park or say which operator would use it. It gives no further information about the Colby barn conversion or the home extensions.
Planning and Building Control publishes a list of new applications every week. Members of the public can comment on any application before its deadline.
