Ramsey cannabis cafe leaves premises and moves to pop-ups in Douglas

The Green Lounge CSC has left its Parliament Street premises and is holding pop-up events at The Tea Junction while it looks for a permanent home.

The Green Lounge CSC, described by Isle of Man Today as the island’s only cannabis cafe, has left its premises on Parliament Street in Ramsey and is now running pop-up events in Douglas.

According to the paper, the pop-ups are taking place at The Tea Junction on Castle Street while the business searches for somewhere permanent.

Founder Maria Bostock announced the move on 28 September. She said the Ramsey building had become unsustainable, but stressed that the business was moving rather than closing. “This is a relocation. It is NOT the end of The Green Lounge,” she wrote on social media.

The cafe opened earlier this year as an alcohol-free place where medicinal cannabis patients and others could meet and spend time together. It served coffee, homemade food and alternative drinks, and ran activities.

According to Isle of Man Today, Ms Bostock said the idea itself had worked but the Parliament Street premises had not been viable. She said keeping the cafe going had cost her a great deal financially, physically and emotionally, and had taken time away from her children.

Thanking customers, she said the cafe “was never the walls, the furniture or the address. It was the people sitting around the tables.”
