Voters in Ramsey will go to the polls on Thursday 3 December to fill three vacancies on Ramsey Town Commissioners, the town’s local authority, according to 3FM.

3FM reported that formal notice of the by-election has now been issued. One of the empty seats is in the north ward and the other two are in the south ward. Information for anyone wishing to stand is on the commissioners’ website.

According to Manx Radio, one seat fell vacant when Juan McGuinness won a place in the House of Keys. The other two arose from resignations earlier this year.

The commissioners have said anyone putting themselves forward should ‘care’ about Ramsey and about making it better, Manx Radio reported. The authority is also arranging a drop-in session for residents who are considering a seat on the board.

Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the responsibilities new members would take on include street lighting, social housing, the town’s parks and queries from residents.
