University College Isle of Man (UCM) has appointed Sarah Strickett as a progress tutor, part of a new pastoral service for its students, Isle of Man Today has reported.
According to the newspaper, her work will include delivering tutorials across the college, giving individual learners tailored coaching and reviewing how students are progressing with their courses.
Ms Strickett has worked extensively with young people aged 16 to 19, the report said. She was previously a senior education support officer at two island schools, St Ninian’s High School and Henry Bloom Noble Primary School. She has also held youth work and outreach jobs with young people who have disabilities or additional needs.
Isle of Man Today said the post reflects the college’s aim of helping students do well academically while also building the confidence, skills and resilience to move on to whatever comes next.
The college is also looking to recruit a second progress tutor, the newspaper added.
