Without Wings – The Manx Autoimmune Trust raised £2,000 at a 12-hour Band-a-thon at Quids Inn on 10 October, held to mark the charity’s 10th anniversary, Isle of Man Today reported.
Mood Indigo opened proceedings at 13:00 with jazz vocals. The Enthusiasts, an 11-piece blues band from Ramsey Grammar School, played next.
The line-up that followed included the jazz quartet Jazzapenos, a folk-rock set from Harry Roe and Josh Quaye, the student covers bands CUNextFriday and Atomic Train, and punk from Half-Naked Headline, Croteau and Smoking Fingers. Kincroft made its debut at the event, and Shady Acres brought the day to a close with an extended set.
Founder Jackie Morrey-Grace called it “definitely one of the best parties we’ve thrown at Quids”, noting that the venue hosted the charity’s first Band-a-thon in 2018. The last event, in 2024, raised £1,100.
According to the report, the pub handed over everything taken on the door and topped up the final sum. Supporters including the Steam Packet, Willow Spa and Robinsons donated raffle prizes.
The charity supports islanders affected by autoimmune conditions through awareness campaigns, information, grants and community wellbeing groups. Its next wellbeing gathering is on Saturday 7 November, from 10:00 to 12:00, at The Roundhouse in Braddan. People with autoimmune conditions, other long-term health problems or mobility difficulties are welcome to attend.
