The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has added almost all of Sunday’s sailings to its list of crossings at risk of disruption. Manx Radio reported that Storm Austen is expected to bring strong winds to the island this weekend.
According to Manx Radio, every crossing scheduled for Sunday 25 October is now marked as at risk, apart from the 19:30 service from Douglas to Heysham.
The operator had already warned earlier this week that a number of crossings on Friday and Saturday might not run because of the storm, Manx Radio said.
The Steam Packet said the master of the Manannan was due to decide on the vessel’s Irish sailings by 17:00 on Thursday, 3FM reported. Those include the 06:45 Douglas to Larne crossing on Friday 23 October and the 10:45 return from Larne.
3FM reported that bad weather has put all sailings after 06:45 on Friday under threat. Manx Radio said a further update on Friday’s Manannan services was expected by 17:00 on Thursday.
Sailings on the at-risk list have not been cancelled, but may not go ahead.
Passengers booked to travel between Friday and Sunday are advised to check the Steam Packet’s website or contact the company for the latest position before setting off, particularly once the decision on the Manannan’s Friday sailings has been made.
