A 62-year-old woman from Jurby has been placed on probation for nine months after biting a police officer on the leg while she was being arrested, according to Isle of Man Today.
She admitted a charge of assaulting a police officer.
The court heard from prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis that police detained the woman on 1 April. The arrest was originally over a separate matter.
After being handcuffed, she freed one of her hands and resisted officers, according to the prosecution.
The court was told that she ended up on the ground with an officer. During the struggle she asked whose leg it was, then put her teeth on the officer’s leg. Mr Bellis said the officer was not injured.
Ian Kermode, defending, said his client had been extremely emotional at the time of the incident. He told the court she now has support from the Drug and Alcohol Team and from mental health services.
