Shops around the island were permitted to start selling fireworks on Monday 26 October, 3FM has reported.

The station said the sale period is deliberately kept short each year under laws intended to stop fireworks being misused.

According to 3FM, retailers will withdraw fireworks from sale on 5 November, Bonfire Night itself, leaving a window of about 10 days for anyone planning a display.
