Arbory and Rushen Commissioners are inviting anyone thinking of standing in a forthcoming by-election to attend the board’s public meeting this evening, 21 October, to find out more about the authority’s work.
The vacancy arose after Kirrie Jenkins was elected to the House of Keys, the elected chamber of Tynwald, in September, according to Energy FM’s Local Democracy Reporter.
The authority said there were “so many opportunities” for people who join the board.
Commissioner Jane Glover told Energy FM that “people skills” and the ability to work with numbers were among the qualities that would suit a new member.
The board has not had a contested election since before 2008, Energy FM reported.
Energy FM did not give details of the by-election timetable, including the closing date for nominations.
