Braddan and Port St Mary commissioners are preparing to hold by-elections to fill empty seats on their boards, 3FM has reported.

According to the station, one place is vacant on the Braddan board and two are vacant in Port St Mary.

Both local authorities have said on social media that nominations will open soon, 3FM reported.

They are also encouraging anyone considering standing to attend a board meeting and learn more about what the role involves.

Braddan Commissioners next meet on Thursday, 15 October, from 14:00. Port St Mary Commissioners will hold their next board meeting on Wednesday, 28 October.

Commissioners form the local authorities for their areas and oversee a range of local services. By-elections fill seats that become vacant between the island-wide local authority elections.
