Families in Douglas can now register their young children to receive free books through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, 3FM reported on Wednesday 21 October.

The charity, set up by the country music star, gives books at no cost to children from birth up to the age of five.

Organisers told the station the scheme is now open in the island’s capital and that Douglas residents can sign up their children.

3FM said parents and carers who want to take part can register through a link on its website.

As reported, the scheme is open to families living in Douglas. The station’s report did not say who is funding the local scheme, or whether it will be offered in other towns and villages on the island.
