Chief Minister Chris Thomas has said his new administration will set out an ‘agenda for change’ within weeks, once it has completed its remaining political appointments.

Mr Thomas told Isle of Man Today on Wednesday that the next priority was to finish filling posts, a week after he named his Council of Ministers, the island’s cabinet of departmental ministers.

He has still to name a Deputy Chief Minister and the remaining political members who sit alongside ministers in government departments.

Mr Thomas said the government would also announce action it had already taken, describing this as part of an effort to deliver what he called the “mandate for change”.

He indicated that more announcements would follow shortly, saying the administration would “come back with an agenda for change, something like that, in a week or so’s time”.

Isle of Man Today did not report any details of what the agenda would contain.

The Council of Ministers named last week puts Michael Crowe in charge of the Treasury and Robert Cowell at the Department for Enterprise.

The other appointments are:

  • Sarah Maltby, Education, Sport and Culture
  • Dr Rachel Glover, Environment, Food and Agriculture
  • Claire Christian, Health and Social Care
  • Jason Moorhouse, Infrastructure
  • Jane Poole-Wilson, Justice and Home Affairs

When he announced the team, Mr Thomas said the line-up brought together a range of experience and backgrounds, according to Isle of Man Today. He added that further appointments could be made as the administration’s priorities took shape.

He also said the government needed to tackle the issues that mattered to the public and to make good use of the opportunities in front of the island.
