David Knight beat his brother Juan into second place on Sunday, with Juan’s son Tom third, giving the family its first one-two-three at Southern MCC’s Sprintcard Enduro, according to Isle of Man Today.
David, on a 450cc Ducati, took the expert class by 32 seconds. Craig Norrey was fastest on the first stubblefield test, but Knight then won every remaining test apart from the final one at Cordeman. There Juan edged him by six hundredths of a second, riding a 2021 300cc KTM that David previously owned.
Tom was a further 1min 04sec adrift, on a 300cc Beta once ridden by his father. He finished four-tenths of a second ahead of Norrey to claim the final podium place.
Fourth was enough for Norrey to retain the domestic enduro title. He finished level on points with Jordan Corkill, who was sixth on the day, and took the championship on countback because he had won a round of the series.
The event was based on land at Cordeman, St Mark’s, and Isle of Man Today described it as one of the best-supported single-day enduros for a long while.
In the clubman class, teenager Stanley Cubbon finished 51 seconds clear of Alex Bottomley. The win gave him victories in all five rounds of the non-expert championship.
Bobby Moyer won the motocross class on a Triumph, with Luke Saunders pipping Travis Meechan for second by 0.83 of a second. Sidecar TT lap record holder Callum Crowe won the sportsman class on a battery-powered Stark Varg EX, and Eric Herdman took the veteran class.
The women’s class produced the closest finish of the day. Charlie Dickinson lost more than a minute changing a plug to cure a misfire, and Sophie Alton-Heath took the win by 4.4 seconds over eight tests.
