Islanders will soon be able to apply for a passport entirely online, and those who do will pay less than people using a paper form, the Isle of Man Government has said.
According to 3FM, the government says a new secure service on its website will let people complete the whole application online. In a social media post, the government said the service would be introduced this winter. No launch date has been given.
The fees reported by 3FM are:
- Adult passport: £115.50 on paper, £102 online
- Child passport: £80 on paper, £66.50 online
On those figures, applying online will cost £13.50 less than a paper application for both adults and children. 3FM reported the saving as £13.
Based on the published fees, a household of two adults and two children would pay £391 using paper forms and £337 online, a difference of £54.
3FM’s report did not say how applicants will submit photographs or supporting documents through the new service. It also did not say how long online applications will take to process, or whether paper applications will continue to be accepted in the longer term.
