DoI says its traffic wardens have no powers at Willaston council car park

The department told a Douglas councillor it holds no record of any agreement or parking order covering the Thomas Keig apartments site.

The Department of Infrastructure has said its traffic wardens have no enforcement powers in a car park owned by Douglas Council at the Thomas Keig apartments in Willaston.

The position emerged in reply to a Freedom of Information request from a Douglas councillor, who has not been named. The request followed complaints from residents about the site, 3FM reported.

The councillor asked how parking there is enforced and whether the department and the local authority had any arrangement covering the car park.

In its reply, the department said it held no information about any power it has to enforce parking at the site. It also said it had nothing on record showing that enforcement had been authorised or delegated to it. Nor did it hold any agreement, parking order or other arrangement with the council for the car park.

3FM’s report did not include any comment from Douglas Council on how parking at the apartments is managed.
