Logos Hope, described as the world’s largest floating book fair, will be in Douglas harbour from 6 to 18 November at the invitation of local churches, Energy FM has reported.

The ship is run by the non-profit organisation GBA Ships and carries more than 5,000 books across a range of genres, all available to buy. On board there is also a multicultural café, a welcome area and space to meet the crew.

It will be open to the public from 8 to 18 November. Opening hours are:

  • Monday: closed
  • Tuesday to Saturday: 10:00 to 22:00
  • Sunday: 13:00 to 22:00

Entry costs £1, paid at the gate before boarding.

The visit has a local connection. Crew member Andy Sheath is from the island and told Energy FM: “It feels like bringing my home to my home, two worlds colliding.” He added that the visit was particularly special given how keen the island had been to invite the ship.

It will not be the first visit of its kind. The ship’s sister vessel, Logos, drew thousands of visitors when it came to the island in 1984, according to the station.
